Brian Cavanaugh
The Artist
Cavanaugh repurposes objects with combined media like photography, video, light, live plants and sound. He manipulates artifacts by deconstruction and reconstruction transforming sculptures into multi-sensory, layered experiences. Each piece stands alone, but combined together add up to more than the sum-total. His influences include history, nature, current events, art, music and literature. His installations toy with absurdity and context evolving his constructions into vessels of cultural curiosity.
Brian Cavanaugh has been a member of Pirate on and off since 2008. His work was represented in the Denver Biennial (2010) hosted by MCA. From 2010-2016, he worked in Houston TX where he showed at The Art Car Museum and Dan M. Allison Gallery. He lives and works out of his home and studio on Lookout Mountain in Golden, CO.
